THE CARAVANNING INDUSTRY IN ITALY AND EUROPE

Further to the excellent results of 2015, the caravanning industry in Italy has reached incredible figures also in 2016. With over 5,500 employees in the field and a turnover of 750 Million Euro, our Country confirms to be one of the best European producers: approximately 15,150 motor caravans manufactured in 2016 (+22% compared to 2015) and 4,250 new vehicles registered (+13.7% compared to 2015).

The following encouraging statistics must be added to this trend: figures for new vehicles (+12.4% in the first half of 2017) and second-hand vehicles (+4.1% in the first three months) are growing as much as in the main European countries (+8.1% new motor caravans registered in Europe in the first three months of 2017).

Italy proves to be playing a leading role also in the exports: almost 13,000 exported vehicles in 2016, which amounts to 77% of the overall production. This shows a further increase if compared to the 9,856 vehicles exported in 2015 – evidence of the unquestionable success of the “Made in Italy” abroad.

According to the data provided by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, 220,585 motor caravans and 62,786 caravans were circulating in Italy at the end of 2016. 58.4% of the motor caravans circulating proved to have been registered over 10 years before, 16.4% of which were registered even more than 20 years ago.
