STOPPING AREA OF THE MONTH – RADICOFANI (SI)
The motorhome area of Radicofani, in province of Siena, is beautifully located along Strada Provinciale 24, in La Mossa area. From the 900m-high volcanic cliff, the village and the ancient Fortress of Radicofani overlook Mount Amiata and Mount Cetona and the breathtaking Val d’Orcia. Radicofani is one of the five municipalities of the Parco Naturale e Artistico della Val d’Orcia, UNESCO Heritage Site since 2004.
Realized thanks to the contribution of APC Call for Tender “I Comuni del Turismo in Libertà”, the motorhome area is located slightly less than 500 metres from the old town centre and overlooks the ancient route of the Via Francigena. With its six level pitches, it is equipped with two fountains, a service station for waste water, an equipped pic-nic area, a nearby public green area and is lighted up at night by street lamps.
Radicofani is not far from thermal springs such as Bagni San Filippo, Bagno Vignoni, San Casciano dei Bagni and Chianciano, and is also a short distance from cities of art like Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino.
