STOPPING AREA OF THE MONTH – LATRONICO (PZ)

An equipped stopping area has been realized just in the residential area of the town of Latronico, in province of Potenza, thanks to the award of APC Call for Tender “I Comuni del Turismo in Libertà”.

Located in a green area overlooking the Pollino Massif and the Mount Alpi, it is equipped with 6 pitches and a huge area for manoeuvres, connection for electricity, clean and waste water facilities. Pets allowed.

In summertime several events liven up the town, such as food festivals, tastings, concerts, and traditional exhibitions. Nearby, 300 metres far from the town centre, you can find restaurants, bars, and shops. Also, the Latronico “Terme Lucane” thermal spa are located no farther than 2 km away. In addition to the naturalistic beauties this area offers – mainly the Pollino National Park and the Comunità Montana Lagonegrese mountain community – some archaeological sites, such as the Grotte di Calda, also deserve a visit. Then, pay a visit to the Colle dei Greci, where necropoleis dating back to the Magna Graecia period and the odd “fish fossil”, discovered in a rock slab on the slopes of the Mount Alpi, were brought to light.
