STOPOVER OF THE MONTH: TARANTA PELIGNA, ABRUZZO
Area Camper delle Acquevive, near Taranta Peligna, in the region of Abruzzo, is a motorhome aire built in part using funds from the Comuni del Centro (Central Italian Towns) category of the APC call for tender I Comuni del Turismo in libertà (Municipalities for Tourism & Freedom). It is located on the Aventino River, just 400 metres outside the village, in the heart of the Maiella National Park. It completes the new Le Acquevive river park, breathing new life into a charming area, featuring outstanding typical species of local flora and helping to reclaim a zone previously used as a landfill for inert waste. Also of interest is the artistic and cultural heritage, with the Majella Brigade Shrine dominating the Aventino Valley, the Church of the Holy Trinity, the Madonna Della Valle Sanctuary and the Madonna del Carmine Church.
The Acquevive Camper Area covers an area of 3,500 square metres. and can comfortably accommodate eight motor homes. The site is close to green areas, with a playground for younger children and picnic areas with a barbecue for public use, enabling travelling families to enjoy a pleasant and relaxing time.
